In Aarthi's words

I'm Aarthi Prabhakaran, a counseling psychologist at MyndStories. I completed my M.Sc in Counseling Psychology from University of Madras.

I have over 2 years of experience in providing psychological first aid, parenting, and life skills counselling to young adults and families.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in Bioecological model of Bronfenbrenner that brings together behaviorism, humanism, and social psychology, with the chronology driving their learning, growth, and development. I use the narrative therapy framework to support my clients in changing their perspectives and eventually the narration of their life story, where they are in full control of who they are and how they wish to go forward.

I have experience working with individuals facing challenges such as trauma, anxiety, stress, existential crisis, issues in relationships, and self-image. I also work with young parents to manage the life transition into parenthood, without losing themselves or their relationships.

Having been a glomad (Global Nomad), I work with immigrant population helping them adapt and embrace the local culture.

My other interests include listening (and singing along) to Illaiyaraja’s songs, watching whodunnit movies and web series, reading, embroidering, and writing. I also volunteer as a Spoken English facilitator and guided reading mentor for underprivileged children.

“Human behavior is the tip of the iceberg” – signifying that the observable behavior is just a small portion of a much larger world of the individual – aptly describes my passion and expertise.”
