In Divya's words
Hi, I’m Divya Khattar, a Counselling Psychologist in private practice (DIYwithDivya). I completed my Masters in Counselling Psychology from Christ University, Bangalore.
I’ve been practicing for about 1.5 years, working closely with individuals on their journeys of healing, self-understanding, and growth.
My primary focus in therapy is to foster curiosity towards oneself and one’s emotional patterns. I believe that meaningful change can only begin when we shift our stance from judgment and criticism to curiosity.
My primary focus in therapy is to foster curiosity towards oneself and one’s emotional patterns. I believe that meaningful change can only begin when we shift our stance from judgment and criticism to curiosity.
My approach is trauma-informed and deeply humanistic. I see the therapeutic relationship itself as a powerful agent of healing. Before any theory or modality, I believe in the profound value of connection. In addition to that, I follow an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from multiple modalities like CBT, ACT, Attachment work, Parts work (IFS), and Inner Child Healing. Through this integrative lens, I aim to create a space where clients feel seen, safe, and supported as they delve into their inner worlds.
My areas of specialization include self and identity exploration (self-esteem, imposter syndrome, body image issues, overthinking, perfectionism, procrastination, etc.), trauma and abuse recovery (particularly narcissistic abuse), anxiety, relational and interpersonal issues, attachment concerns, loneliness, grief, navigating life transitions, and emotional regulation. Much of my work revolves around helping individuals understand themselves better, heal from their past, and cultivate fulfilling, authentic connections in their lives.
Outside the therapy room, I’m a person who finds joy in the simple things. I’m an avid foodie, a passionate dancer, and someone who loves reading, writing, and consuming rich content - be it books, films, or podcasts. You'll often find me painting, crafting, or goofing around with my dog Google to unwind.
